Here’s the most absurd sales pitch I’ve seen all week. This is the demo for the Cold Steel Two-Handed Great Sword. It’s got all of your standard sword-testing demos, like slicing through pigs and ropes and stacks of stuff. It also has less-common stunts, like poking holes in an oil drum filled with water, chopping through ice blocks in slow motion, and popping a balloon. That’s right. After doing pretty much everything I would imagine doing if I had a huge sword, the makers of the Two-Handed Great Sword want us to know that not only can it chop through slabs of ribs, it can also penetrate the thin elastic walls of a balloon. This is even being pitched as a home invasion defense (for the people who would rather lop off an arm than shoot an intruder). Enjoy, but please don’t be the person that buys this.
